Family reunion is one of the pillars of the Canadian immigration system. Canadian citizens or permanent residents, who are 18 years or older may sponsor some of their family members for Canadian permanent residency.
Canadian citizens or permanent residents may sponsor the following family members, given that they meet the eligibility requirements:
Spouse or common law partner, who live at the same address for at least 12 months
Dependent children (single and less than 22 years old)
Parents
Orphaned sibling, niece/nephew, or grandchildren who are less than 18 years old and single
